Literacy focused games and activities, ideal for parents/carers of children aged 3 – 6.
Aim: For parents/carers, with their children, to explore ways to support their literacy learning while keep them active and having fun.
Helping a child learn to read is one of the most important gifts you can give them, and that journey starts with helping them to recognise letter shapes and their sounds, known as phonics. We’ll guide you along the way and show you how to make learning about phonics fun and physical, with activities you can do at home using puppets, chopsticks, spoons, instruments, playdough, sand, games and puzzles. You will also learn about how phonics is taught in schools, which will help you to understand some of the jargon that your child will be learning so that you can give them that valuable support at home.
